WordPress.org has released it’s new version of the WordPress popular open source blogging application. Version 2.0.6 contains security fixes, and other notable updates. This release will be the last WordPress release until the long awaited version 2.1 (currently in beta). Although WordPress intends on keeping 2.0.x active for Debian (the free or “universal” operating system based on the Linux kernel), they will update at a faster pace for 2.1.
From the WordPress.org blog:
We have a pretty important release available for everyone, it includes an important security fix and it’s recommended that everyone upgrade. This is the latest release in our stable 2.0 line, which we’ve committed to maintaining for several more years.
Here’s what’s new:
- The aforementioned security fixes.
- HTML quicktags now work in Safari browsers.
- Comments are filtered to prevent them from messing up your blog layout.
- Compatibility with PHP/FastCGI setups.
