GoDaddy.com Seeking Spanish Speakers

Scottsdale, Arizona – (The Hosting News) – July 21, 2009 – GoDaddy.com web hosting and domain registrar, is hiring technically skilled Spanish speakers to better serve its global customers currently.

At a news conference held at its Tempe, Ariz. facility today, Go Daddy Vice President of Customer Care Miguel Lopez announced 20 open positions in the Spanish language unit. Lopez is a native Spanish speaker himself, and oversees all Go Daddy’s Customer Care operations.

The newly formed team services Spanish speaking customers who want help setting up their online presence, with domain names, Web sites, e-commerce tools, blogs, photo albums or any of the 52 products Go Daddy offers.

Mr. Lopez explained, “We are looking for Spanish speakers with computer knowledge, but we also train our staff so they know our products and services inside and out. Since we began offering Spanish language assistance this year, we’ve seen a significant spike in business from Mexico and Spain. So few companies actually offer a phone number for top-notch customer service … clearly, there is a need for people to have access to friendly, knowledgeable service when it comes to getting up and running on the Internet.”

Go Daddy is one of a handful of Inc. 500/5000 companies in hiring mode these days. The Web giant employs more than 2,170 people, and serves more than 7 million customers worldwide.

In addition to the Spanish speaking positions, Go Daddy has 100 open jobs right now.

The Scottsdale-based company ranked on the Valley’s Best Places to Work list for the last five years running. Other distinguished honors and awards over recent years include Go Daddy being selected Most Innovative Company, Business Leader of the Year, Best Registrar, Best Employee Perks and Best Manufacturing and Technology company in the Valley.

Go Daddy offers outstanding health benefits, generous vacation time, competitive salaries, educational assistance and opportunities to advance.

GoDaddy Testifies on White House Internet Security Mandate

Scottsdale, Arizona – (The Hosting News) – June 10, 2009 – GoDaddy.com recently testified in front of a Congressional subcommittee about the critical need for a continued relationship between the U.S. Department of Commerce National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) and the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN).

Go Daddy’s General Counsel and Corporate Secretary Christine N. Jones strongly urged the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Communications, Technology and the Internet to renew, or at the very least extend, the Joint Partnership Agreement (JPA) between NTIA and ICANN. The JPA is currently scheduled to sunset September 30.

Ms. Jones testified, ”ICANN is responsible for an important public trust,” noting significant concerns about ICANN’s lack of transparency and accountability. ICANN was created 12 years ago to administer a globally acceptable Web address system. While Go Daddy acknowledges ICANN has made progress in achieving some of its original goals, the company feels there is much more to be accomplished before the U.S. Commerce Department recommends ICANN operate independent of NTIA oversight.

A majority of subcommittee members noted their shared concerns about allowing the JPA to sunset.

At one point during the hearing, Counsel Jones was asked by Rep. John Shadegg of Arizona about Go Daddy’s transparency concerns of ICANN. Ms. Jones noted the lack of open meetings held by the ICANN Board and accused ICANN of ‘’stonewalling” registrars who request board meeting transcripts. ICANN’s CEO Paul Twomey, Ph.D., disagreed with Ms. Jones’ assessment. His retort, however, did not appear to allay the subcommittee’s concerns.

The security of the Internet was also a high priority at this hearing, as it is for the current White House administration. President Obama is keenly aware of the extraordinary dangers a compromised Internet would cause to national defense and the world’s economy. Those concerns led to his announcement last week of a ”cyber-security czar” to help protect the nation’s crucial telecom infrastructure and information systems.

As the world’s largest domain name registrar and a leader globally in both web site hosting and eCommerce, Go Daddy worries about many of the same issues. The company believes strongly that, without NTIA oversight, ICANN may be vulnerable to ”capture by another government, international organization, or business that does not have a secure and stable Internet as its top priority,” declared Ms. Jones at the hearing.

GoDaddy Provides New SSL Certs at Market 44 Percent

Scottsdale, Arizona – (The Hosting News) – June 1, 2009 – Netcraft Ltd’s May 2009 Trends Report indicated that GoDaddy was responsible for 44 percent of the overall net growth in SSL certificates found by Netcraft this past month, showing the largest net growth 11 of the last 12 months.

The report states ‘VeriSign has again seen its market share decline and GoDaddy has seen another increase in both total certificates and market share this month.’

Bob Parsons, CEO and Founder of GoDaddy remarked, ”This should not surprise anyone. GoDaddy offers low cost SSL certificates and allows customers to purchase one cert to cover all of a company’s servers. Try getting that from VeriSign – it won’t happen.”

Mandy Davis, Operations Manager at analyst firm Netcraft Ltd. added, ”Our results show GoDaddy has seen steady and continuous growth in global market share as a certificate authority. GoDaddy’s SSL certificate offerings appear to be growing in popularity, as the company now holds a 25 percent global market share.”

A Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) Certificate enables a browser and server to establish a secure, encrypted connection for online transactions and communications. GoDaddy.com SSL Certificates are offered in three assurance validation levels: Standard, Deluxe and Premium Extended Validation SSL.

All GoDaddy certificates include an unlimited server license, meaning one Certificate can be used on multiple servers, potentially saving companies thousands of dollars above and beyond the base price.

According to the company, GoDaddy is the largest hosting provider of secure websites in the world, in addition to being the world’s top domain name registrar. Read more of this news »

GoDaddy Awards SmartSpace Contest Winners

Scottsdale, Arizona – (The Hosting News) – May 19, 2009 – GoDaddy has awarded participants in its SmartSpace web site building contest with generous cash prizes.

GoDaddy created SmartSpace as a very affordable web site building tool that quickly and easily allows a domain name to be transformed into a web site – packed with a person’s favorite content in just a few clicks.

Jerry Fleming’s DenverSportsBlog.com is an example of how the software can be utilized. Mr. Fleming had been looking for a way to turn his passion for the Denver sports scene into an online business, but he couldn’t figure out how to make it happen until he discovered SmartSpace.

Mr. Fleming explained, ”Before I started using GoDaddy, I had great ideas but no way to put them together. With SmartSpace, I put together a professional-looking site quickly and with no graphic design schooling. What started as a fun side project now has paid advertisers and regular contributors.”

Mr. Fleming earned $5,000 simply for telling that story and entering GoDaddy’s SmartSpace contest.

In March and April, GoDaddy put out the call asking the company’s SmartSpace users to describe the creative ways they have used the Web builder and then awarded $25,000 in prize money for the most creative submissions. Fleming and 12 other SmartSpace customers won.

GoDaddy’s SmartSpace was developed to make creating a personal or potentially profit-making web site simple for anyone with a Go Daddy domain name. SmartSpace customers can personalize their Web site with photos, videos, blogs, RSS feeds, even material from social media sites like Digg, Facebook, Flickr and YouTube.

Bob Parsons, CEO and Founder of Go Daddy explained, ”It was impressive to see all the different uses of SmartSpace people submitted for our contest. As easy as this is to use, anyone who ever wanted a web site, but was worried about having to be tech savvy to get it done, can just throw those worries out the window.”

GoDaddy Prepares to Sponsor Indy 500 Broadcast

Scottsdale, Arizona – (The Hosting News) – May 5, 2009 – Hosting domain registrar, GoDaddy.com, will be the presenting sponsor for the Indianapolis 500 telecast again this year, from broadcast segments to aerial and in-car views, as well as commercials, during the live ABC broadcast May 24.

Bob Parsons, CEO and Founder at Go Daddy remarked, ”This is, by far, the hottest Go Daddy commercial we’ve ever done. Considering all the Go Daddy ads rejected over the years, this is as GoDaddy-esque as it gets. Our Internet-Only version will have people talking.”

Go Daddy Girl Danica Patrick will have a high profile at Indy. She’s IndyCar’s Most Popular driver and will of course be among those competing on the track and appearing in television ads. Danica, however, will be the only driver starring in a racy new Go Daddy commercial tailor-made for the Indy 500.

Danica is literally behind the wheel for a twist on speeding tickets in her latest Go Daddy commercial, titled ‘Speeding.’ In the ad, the Go Daddy Girl is pulled over for going too fast on a deserted highway. Without revealing the punch line, the premise revolves around a police officer who stops Danica and quickly proclaims a desire to become a Go Daddy spokesperson.

Mr. Parsons is referencing the commercial’s cue for viewers to go to www.GoDaddy.com on race day to see the ad’s steamy conclusion. Go Daddy’s ‘cliffhanger’ tradition has served as a way to entertain viewers and drive Web site traffic. It’s a technique the company first pioneered during the 2008 Super Bowl.

Go Daddy Premieres New Marketplace

Scottsdale, Arizona – (The Hosting News) – April 23, 2009 – Domain registrar and hosting firm, GoDaddy.com, has debuted a retail space with its new Marketplace, a virtual mall affords vendors a simple pricing structure – a flat fee commission and affordable lifetime membership.
