EarthLink Repurchase Shares Added

Atlanta, Georgia - (Website Hosting Directory) - September 4, 2007 - Web host and ISP firm, EarthLink, Inc., has enlisted a corporate restructuring plan, to reduce operating costs across the company. The restructuring will begin immediately and be completed by the end of the year.

Rolla P. Huff, President and CEO of EarthLink offered, ”While we see this as an important first step in unlocking the underlying value that we believe is in our company, we are only eight weeks into the process of repositioning EarthLink for the future. These changes get our cost structure in line, but there is much more to do. We expect to announce additional steps as we continue our work over the coming weeks and months.”

Mr. Huff continued, ”We are extremely appreciative of our employees’ dedication and contributions, and we hope that the benefits and services we have put in place to provide assistance will help during this time of transition. While we recognize this is a difficult time for those affected individuals, this was a needed action for the company to better align our cost structure with our existing business.”

Approximately 900 jobs will be eliminated and the company will close its Orlando, FL; Knoxville, TN; Harrisburg, PA and San Francisco, CA offices and substantially reduce its presence in Pasadena, CA, and Atlanta, GA. EarthLink expects to record facility exit and restructuring costs of $60 - $70 million associated with the plan. These costs include $30 - $35 million for certain employee-related costs, $10 - $15 million for lease termination costs, $8 - $10 million for other costs to streamline operations and $8 - $10 million non- cash asset write-offs. EarthLink expects that these facility exit and restructuring costs will be recognized primarily in the third and fourth quarters of fiscal year 2007.

As a result of the corporate restructuring, EarthLink expects to generate $25 - $35 million in cost savings through the remainder of 2007. Management believes that due to the expected savings generated, the company should receive a positive payback on the restructuring costs within six months. Additionally, EarthLink is modifying its previously issued revenue, adjusted EBITDA and net loss guidance for the third quarter and full year 2007. For the third quarter of 2007, EarthLink now expects revenue of $290 - $300 million. Excluding the one-time facility exit and restructuring charges, the company now expects adjusted EBITDA. Earthlink’s New Edge, Chosen by Wendy’s Franchise

Vancouver, Washington - (Cheap Web Hosting Directory) - July 19, 2007 - Wholly owned subsidiary of EarthLink Inc., New Edge Networks, was chosen by DavCo Restaurants Inc., a franchisee of Wendy’s International Inc., to support a private network installation, hoped to improve efficiency, profitability and guest experience.

The network is expected to be fully operational by the end of July. DavCo’s private wide area network links more than 160 Wendy’s restaurants in northern Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C. Until recently, DavCo restaurants were using a combination of dial-up telephone connections and individual high-speed connections that were not part of a managed network.

Stacy A. Duncan, Director of Information Technology for DavCo, based in Crofton, Md offered, ”The need for improved security and use of new technology in our stores prompted DavCo to switch to a private managed network. A private network allows DavCo to optimize operating efficiency for better serving our customers.”

Last year, DavCo installed a new point-of-sale system and upgraded its computers to accommodate data polling, credit card transactions and back office data management. Now with a high-speed network, the Wendy’s franchisee is poised to do remote sales polling every 15 minutes to an enterprise web site, allow store managers to submit food orders online versus using fax orders, and enable the store managers to use a new Wendy’s Web portal for food cost management. This completely automates the food cost management process saving managers hours of manual paperwork.

Ms. Duncan remarked, ”With our new network, restaurants are processing credit card transactions in three to five seconds versus 21 to 30 seconds on dial-up. When we moved (stores) to the network, the reaction from our managers was, ‘Wow. This is great.”’

With restaurants spread out over two states plus the District of Columbia, DavCo turned to New Edge Networks as a single-source provider for its managed network. New Edge Networks offered DavCo guaranteed flat-rate national pricing, regardless of the high-speed access type available at each location. By using a network, DavCo was able to eliminate one to three regular telephone lines at each restaurant. This helped DavCo hold down its average monthly total communications costs.

Greg Griffiths, Vice President of Marketing for New Edge Networks added, ”DavCo’s smart use of technology is helping increase sales by improving the overall guest experience. In the quick service restaurant industry, which operates on margins that are pennies on a dollar, every little improvement helps build substantial business improvements.” Read more of this news »

EarthLink, Google, Appear for Net Neutrality

The Electronic Retailing Association is the only industry association representing direct response marketing companies and major retailers that use electronic media to sell goods and services to consumers. During the panel, which focused on quality of service, tiering, and charging fees for prioritized delivery of broadband access, Tulipane stressed the need to continue a non-prioritized, “open” Internet scenario. While Tulipane believes that providers can recoup their investment and create additional revenue streams by charging for non-Internet related broadband applications, such as video or television, she believes that the Internet should be separated from such broadband services.

Ms. Tulipane offered, “This position keeps the Internet as an open network where our smaller retailers can continue to provide consumers with content the consumer wants,, because in today’s world the consumer is in charge.” Read more of this news »
