As a reseller, i got some problems at hostgator hosting;
* The only way to setup a rails environment is connecting via ssh (jailssh)
* If you have any ssh access on your domains, you have to pay 10$ for each domain you need to ssh access.
* There is fcgi or mongrel option. Only cgi access and it is very slow.
* Support services are incredibly slow as one day even your ticket marked as urgent.
Conclusion, i do NOT recommended hostgator if you are using rails.

Avoid them for rails! They do not have fcgi so each page will take an incredibly long time to load, as you must restart the server afresh for each page request! ahh!
