Google Apps, Deployed by Avaya
Basking Ridge, New Jersey – (Cheap Web Hosting Directory) – March 9, 2007 – The Google Enterprise Professional, will be utilized by business communications applications, systems and services firm, Avaya Inc., to develop new capabilities for small businesses, using Google’s enterprise products as a centerpiece.
Avaya plans to combine the power of intelligent communications with web services, enabling companies to enhance productivity and deliver superior customer service. The Google Enterprise Professional program includes developers, consultants and independent software vendors that provide value-added services for Google enterprise products.
Under the terms of the agreement,
Avaya will develop, market and support offers that integrate Avaya’s advanced communications solutions for small businesses with the new Google Apps Premier Edition, the subscription services solution for email, instant messaging, calendar and web publishing services.
Google Apps endeavors to bring simple, powerful communication and collaboration tools to organizations using their own domain name. With the Google Apps service, users can use tools like Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Talk, and Google Docs and Spreadsheets on their own domain to stay connected and work together more effectively, hosted by Google, with no hardware or software to download, install or maintain.
Examples of the open standards-based capabilities on which the solutions will focus include: enabling subscribers to easily share contact information, presence information and alerts; enabling a single in-box for voice mail, email, instant messages and fax messages; and enabling web calling over the Google Talk instant messaging service network. The companies’ collaborative efforts will initially focus on Avaya IP Office, Avaya’s flagship IP telephony communications solution for small and mid-size businesses, with availability planned for fall 2007.
Further solutions are expected to continue the emphasis on productivity-enhancing and cost-cutting capabilities for small and mid-sized companies. Geoffrey Baird, Vice President and General Manager, Appliances, Mobility and Small Systems Division at Avaya offered, ”Avaya is working with Google to accelerate the convergence of enterprise communications with web services. Google Apps Premier Edition offers a powerful set of APIs that enable us to create new solutions that can help small businesses make dramatic improvements in employee productivity and get more out of their communications investment – making both Web and communications content available over a PC, phone or mobile device.”
For example, with the new integrated enterprise applications, an office administrator in charge of a staff of mobile workers would receive a display on a laptop that shows whether or not employees are in or out of the office, on the phone, or on their PC, including details regarding employees’ suppliers, customers, and business contacts, so virtually any customer’s question could be efficiently addressed immediately. Or a textile manufacturing expert located in North America could use Google Talk services for long distance calls to one of its factories in China, and switch to a full, professional voice and data communications solution from Avaya when speaking with customers. In this case, Avaya’s communications solution integrated with Google Talk would enable the textile company owner to speak with a customer via the Google network and simultaneously access advanced communications capabilities from the Avaya solution.
Kevin Smith, Head of Enterprise Partnerships at Google added, ”Google is excited to have Avaya as a partner in the Google Enterprise Professional program. We’re looking forward to Avaya providing a broad set of IP and telephony communications capabilities to Google Apps users.”
The first integrated solution, which Avaya expects to deliver later this year, will be sold through Avaya’s global network of resellers and distributors, providing customers with a single point of contact for sales, installation and support.
