Federal regulators have recently abandoned efforts to negotiate a deal between Internet service providers and web companies over net neutrality rules.

The FFC announced on Thursday, it has ended its efforts in trying to provide a compromise between the various companies, citing that weeks of negotiations had not “generated a robust framework to preserve openness and freedom of the Internet.”

Verizon executive vice president, Tom Tauke thanked the agency for its efforts. “The FCC talks made good progress toward consensus on a number of points. We will continue to work with the FCC, Congress and all interested parties.”

AT&T Senior Executive Vice President Jim Cicconi said that AT&T was “disappointed that the net neutrality talks convened by the FCC have broken down. We put a number of significant concessions on the table and, despite today’s setback, remain convinced that a consensus solution can be achieved.”

OpenDNS announced today that the World Economic Forum has selected it as a 2011 Technology Pioneer. The award represents the highest possible honor from the World Economic Forum and past winners include Google, PayPal, Twitter Mint and Mozilla. CEO David Ulevitch, along with CEOs of other winning companies, will attend the annual Davos conference in 2011 as an invited guest.

To be selected as a Technology Pioneer by the World Economic Forum, a company must be involved in the development of a major technology and have the potential for long-term impact on business and society. In addition, it must demonstrate visionary leadership and show all the signs of being a long-standing and sustainable market leader – and its technology must be proven.

“To be honored by the World Economic Forum as a Technology Pioneer is a tremendous honor,” said David Ulevtich, OpenDNS CEO. “When we launched the service in 2006 our singular goal was to improve the Internet through a better DNS service. Today, as when we started, we remain focused on innovation and delivering a safer, faster, smarter and more reliable Internet experience to our millions of users around the world.”

This year, the honorees the Forum named had the widest range ever of country of origin: Australia, Canada, India, Israel, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Nigeria, People’s Republic of China, South Africa, Switzerland, Thailand, the United Kingdom and the United States. Over half of the Technology Pioneers are from the United States, underscoring the country’s position as a leading incubator for innovation.

Other 2011 Technology Pioneers include foursquare and Spotify. The entire list of Technology Pioneers, with profiles and selected video interviews with the companies’ CEOs, Founders and Chief Scientists, can be found at http://www.weforum.org/techpioneers.

“The World Economic Forum is proud to recognize an outstanding group of innovative companies as Technology Pioneers for 2011,” said André Schneider, managing director and chief operating officer of the World Economic Forum. “Their technologies and business models will have a durable and valuable effect in several industries and society as a whole. We look forward to their unique contributions to the mission of the Forum: improving the state of the world.”

JUPITER, Fla. (September 1, 2010) – HostNine, a leader in Shared Hosting, Reseller Hosting, Dedicated Servers, and Virtual Private Servers, announced today its soaring affiliate program was ranked #1 among all Web hosting affiliate programs by Commission Junction, the worldwide leader in affiliate program management.

In the past three months, HostNine has an overall ranking from Commission Junction of #2 of 63 total affiliate programs. In all affiliate programs (3,226) run by Commission Junction, HostNine ranks #40. Commission Junction ranks affiliate programs based on their payouts and success rates—both of which are key priorities for HostNine. Affiliate payouts from HostNine are in excess of $150 per referred sale for high-volume affiliates.

“We have always viewed affiliate marketing as a vital way to broaden our customer base and maintain widespread brand recognition in the industry. By rewarding our partners generously and tangibly supporting their efforts to generate sales, we have built years of trust and countless loyal affiliates. Commission Junction’s top ranking for HostNine backs up what we’ve been saying for a long time, and it means a lot to our team,” said Taylor Hawes, affiliate program manager, HostNine.

Affiliates can leverage dozens of constantly updated banners and Web marketing assets provided by HostNine. The company also has invested heavily in upgrades to its website, which has reduced the order form dropout rate by a whopping 30%. The substantial enhancements are largely due HostNine’s unique two-step order form, further shortening the sign-up process. Affiliates have already praised the changes.

In May, HostNine introduced sweeping upgrades to its line of hosting plans, adding unlimited disk space, unlimited bandwidth, and other features for its worldwide shared Web hosting. Users can also choose from server locations in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Asia. In August, HostNine removed all annual payment requirements, extending savings to customers who pay monthly. HostNine now offers unlimited shared hosting for just $3.95 a month on a month to month basis. Other companies require anywhere from two to three years up front payment to receive affordable pricing.

“Honesty and integrity have always been our guiding principles, and we decided that advertising a $3.95 per month hosting plan, which really requires an up front payment of nearly $142.50, isn’t in line with the image we want to portray. We’re now one of the only hosting companies that actually offers a $3.95 per month hosting plan for a monthly payment of $3.95. We’re not worried about locking in our customers—they’ll stay with us for years because they love our service, not because we force them to,” said Ben Gabler, operations manager, HostNine.

Reseller Hosting from HostNine is available in five levels, starting at just $24.95 per month, which includes 50GB of disk space, 500GB of bandwidth, and a wide-variety of value-added features, such as the award-winning Reseller Central platform (available on all Reseller Hosting plans). Reseller Central is available exclusively to HostNine customers and provides resellers with unprecedented control of the reseller environment through a single, easy-to-use interface.

Dedicated Hosting and VPS Hosting also offer a wide variety of options and generous allotments of hosting resources.

NOVI, Mich. (September 1, 2010) – Future Hosting, an Internet solutions provider serving SMBs and enterprises internationally and developer of Future Engineer™, today announced it is introducing full-scale upgrades across its entire line of hosting services, boosting resource allotments for existing customers without raising fees.

All existing customers will be automatically given a 50 percent increase in disk space as well as an increase in bandwidth, depending upon the level of the hosting package. The minimum monthly bandwidth allotment has been increased from 100GB to 2TB, a boost of a whopping 200 percent.

“Providing value for our customers is essential, especially as businesses seek to do more with less in these economic times. By taking advantage of economies of scale due to our robust growth, we are able to provide our customers with much larger resource allotments on their hosting plans without increasing costs. Coupled with our global expansion and recent upgrades to our automation systems, we continue to make Future Hosting an attractive choice for small to medium sized businesses,” said Future Hosting Chief Strategy Officer Stephen Kowalski.

Earlier this week, Future Hosting added VPS management capability to its Future Hosting Management Portal. Clients now have complete control of all of their Virtual Private Servers under a single username. VPS clients are also able to access the complete lineup of Future Hosting client support and billing services through the same interface.

Virtual Private Servers from Future Hosting are available in a wide variety of configurations, including on both managed and unmanaged plans. Clients are also able to locate their server in any of Future Hosting’s six international data centers, in Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, London, Seattle, or Washington, D.C.

Future Hosting is the developer of Future Engineer™, a technical support automation system designed to automate time consuming server configuration and repair tasks on Virtual Private Servers (VPS). Future Engineer™ allows clients to receive a greater level of technical support than is available when technicians spend their time performing routine or basic maintenance tasks.

Parallels, the worldwide leader in virtualization and automation software, today announced its official arrival in the Australian and New Zealand market launching its go-to-market strategy for its award-winning virtualization and automation software for business, consumer and cloud/service provider audiences.

With the announcement of its new office comes the appointment of two industry veterans, Neil Morarji as General Manager and Alexei Anisimov as Sales Engineer. Neil will be responsible for driving Parallels’ strong relationship with its cloud services provider partners and two ANZ distributors, Conexus and Software Only, while Alexei will concentrate on providing strategic sales and technical support for customers and partners in ANZ.
Parallels has had a growing presence in Australia and New Zealand through its service provider partners, distributors and retail partners since 2006 and has gained a formidable reputation among businesses, consumers and service providers looking for virtualization and automation solutions that are among the fastest growing in the market.

“We have seen the rapid local adoption of Parallels products over the last four years through our on-the-ground distributors, retail and service provider partners. The decision to open offices in ANZ was a direct result of this success and the identification of potential business in the consumer, business and service provider markets. We have been working closely with our partners to best capitalize on the growing opportunity in ANZ,” said John Eng, Asia-Pacific VP of Marketing and Alliances for Parallels.

“The large majority of businesses in Australia and New Zealand are small-to-medium enterprises in need of high-quality IT services, but lacking the budgets to manage them in-house. Parallels enables SMEs to take advantage of the best technology when they need it and without complexity, so that they can stay focused on business,” said Eng.

The company’s desktop virtualization product for consumers, Parallels Desktop 5 for Mac, enables users to seamlessly run multiple operating systems and applications on their Mac desktops, with enhanced speed and performance.

“With the popularity of Mac computers among consumers and more recently business and SOHO users comes the need for flexibility and compatibility. Increasingly we are seeing the need for users to have the ability to run a Windows OS on their Mac OS for various reasons relating to personal and business use. Parallels consumer products offer the best of all worlds allowing people to use their Windows OS on their Mac OS at the same time without rebooting,” said Eng.

Parallels Desktop 5 for Mac is priced at AU$119 and NZ$149.95. It is available through key retailers including the Apple Store, Harvey Norman, David Jones, Dick Smith Electronics, Myer and Nextbyte. It is also available through major Apple Premium Resellers including MacOne, StreetWise, MacCentric and ComputersNow and online through Harris Technologies and Streetwise Software.

Issued annually, the Inc. 500|5000 list ranks the fastest growing companies in the U.S. Companies were required to have minimum revenues of $80,000 in 2006 and minimum revenues of $2 million in 2009 to qualify for the 2010 list, and must be privately held, for profit, and independent as of December 31, 2009.

“We are very pleased to be included in the Inc. 500. It is an honor to be listed among America’s top private companies and leading entrepreneurs,” said George Karidis, SoftLayer Chief Strategy Officer. “We have seen strong revenue growth and remarkable success since our founding in 2005, even through a challenging, turbulent economic climate.”

SoftLayer’s growth has been enabled by its strategic position to address the dynamic needs of businesses in an unstable economy. SoftLayer’s IT solutions offers an option for enterprises of any size, from any industry, to outsource their data center infrastructure needs and focus their resources on operational needs rather than capital expenditures.
