Denver, Colorado - (The Hosting News) - July 2, 2009 - Hosting and colocation solutions provider, Hosting.com, is expanding by opening a 30,000 square foot datacenter and 13,000 square foot corporate complex in the Denver metro area in late August.

Joel Daly, COO of Hosting.com remarked, ”By operating five datacenters from coast to coast, we provide our clients with unparalleled solution and service options. Our business continuity and disaster recovery (BCDR) enhancements will provide clients with cost-effective means to achieve and test true disaster recovery and fault tolerance.”

Company owners Art Zeile and Joel Daly have operated three successful high-tech firms, all headquartered in Denver, including InFlow, Inc., sold to Sungard in 2005.

The demand for secure, reliable colocation space in Denver continues to outpace availability. Art Zeile, Hosting.com CEO, commented, ”We are excited to serve a very large need in Denver with this new datacenter. Colocation space with our high level of service and support is absent from downtown. We will grow aggressively over the next 24 months through a national platform of managed and secure services; we are excited that Denver is at the center of our growth.”

Hosting.com will occupy a historic Ford Model T factory retrofitted to their specifications for the expansion. The location takes advantage of a strong network topology, multiple power grids, and close proximity to fully redundant fiber feeds from Tier 1 providers. The datacenter will incorporate Hosting.com Smart Design Standards and provide up to 10 Gb/sec of redundant connectivity for bandwidth routing optimization as well as 200 watts/sq ft of power and cooling. It will be the only datacenter of its kind in downtown Denver.

In addition to hosting and colocation services, the new facility will support Hosting.com’s new cloud hosting platforms, Cloud Enterprise and Cloud Private. Hosting.com currently operates SAS 70 Type II certified datacenters in Irvine, CA; Louisville, KY; Newark, DE; and San Francisco, CA. Hosting.com’s cloud and virtualization solutions coupled with a geographically dispersed datacenter network allows their clients to take full advantage of their services for redundancy, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery solutions for their web enabled businesses and technology infrastructure.

Hosting.com provides enterprise colocation, cloud computing, dedicated hosting, managed hosting, disaster recovery, and business continuance services to a global customer base demanding a high level of security, reliability, and responsiveness. Hosting.com monitors, manages, and enhances the Web-based platforms of Web 2.0 companies, software as a service (SaaS) providers, content distribution networks (CDN), and medium to large enterprises whose Web presence is crucial and high availability mandatory.

Herndon, Virginia - (The Hosting News) - July 1, 2009 - Hosting provider, domain name registration and services firm, Network Solutions, recently announced, in celebration of Independence Day, that it will offer .US names at a discounted price.

Sean Kaine of Network Solutions remarked, ”The World Wide Web is moving beyond .com. As new top level domains are being added, the .US domain name extension remains a popular alternative for domain name registrations.”

After the original .com, .net and .org domain name extensions, .US is one of the most popular among United States individuals. The .US domain name is useful in signifying that a business is American owned and operated, as well as for companies for whom the business name .com domain name extension is taken by another organization.

Surrounding the July 4th celebration of Independence Day in the US, Network Solutions will have a banner on their Web site storefront offering access to the $9.99 .US domain name promotion.

Mr. Kaine added, ”Registering a .US domain is just as easy as before. But this discount offers added incentive.”

Network Solutions is a provider of web solutions and domain name registration services, offers a full range of web-related services, including web hosting, web design, e-commerce software, search engine marketing, SSL certificates, e-mail services and domain name registration.

Amsterdam, The Netherlands - (The Hosting News) - June 24, 2009 - business hosting provider based in Amsterdam, LeaseWeb, has increased the bandwidth capacity of its hosting network from 500 to 750 Gigabits per second, in a six-month period.

A large increase in new clients, and especially the increased use of videos on websites, are key drivers behind the strong growth in Internet traffic.

LeaseWeb’s clients use LeaseWeb’s hosting network as well as, among other things, its servers and network equipment in a data center to enable people to visit their websites. This Internet traffic has increased tremendously. LeaseWeb’s network, which includes fiber-optic links and four data centers in the Amsterdam region, extends across the world via telecom carriers and Internet exchanges.

Con Zwinkels, managing director of LeaseWeb explained, ”We have recently seen a strong increased in the use of streaming video in Web environments. Video is a key factor in the growth of Internet traffic handled by our network. In addition, we’re seeing a continuous flow of new clients from the Netherlands, but particularly from other countries, who have come to appreciate LeaseWeb’s qualities and competitive price-quality ratio. To give you an idea, we are currently managing approximately 22,000 servers and we’re adding about 300 servers each month. This growth is significant.”

The network capacity of 750 Gbps is twice the amount of bandwidth that clients actually use. The actual amount of Internet traffic is currently about 375 Gbps. The web page at http://noc.Leaseweb.com has a graph showing the latest developments in LeaseWeb’s daily Internet traffic.

Mr. Zwinkels added, ”Maintaining ample bandwidth is a conscious choice. Our double bandwidth capacity is one of the main reasons why companies with rapidly expanding web environments choose LeaseWeb. Exactly one year ago, LeaseWeb’s hosting network bandwidth capacity was 210 Gbps. That was already significant, certainly compared to the capacity offered by the average hosting provider in the Netherlands. I would not have predicted that we would reach 750 Gbps this soon.”

Bulk users of bandwidth within LeaseWeb’s network include the websites of 123Video (www.123video.nl), Garage TV of Belgium (www.gargetv.be), product comparison site Twenga (www.twenga.com), the German broadcasting company WIGE Media AG (www.wige.de), Turkish media giant (www.haber7.com), and the websites from Turkish companies like Akilli.tv, Turkticaret.net, Tescilet.net-Kurtlarvadisi.com, Internethaber.com, and Super Muzik.

LeaseWeb is an international provider of hosting solutions that is primarily geared towards the professional market. The company is among the top-20 hosting providers worldwide and its services include server virtualization, dedicated servers, collocation, streaming, webhosting, and domain name registration. LeaseWeb is the proprietor of a first-class network that offers a bandwidth of more than 750 Gbps, spanning four data centers in the Amsterdam region via major telecom carriers. LeaseWeb is also present via Internet exchanges in Amsterdam, Brussels, London, Frankfurt, New York, Vienna, Stockholm, Warsaw, Zurich, Prague and Madrid. This way, LeaseWeb enables companies around the world to create and continue their online presence in a simple and affordable manner. Since its founding in 1997, hosting provider LeaseWeb has expanded its network to include more than 22,000 servers. LeaseWeb’s clients include Royal Joh. Ensched, OGD, 123Video, Jaap.nl, Relatieplanet, MijnAlbum, Starbucks, Hyves, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Twenga, Direct Wonen, Rijksmuseum Amsterdam, and Unive.

Washington, D.C. - (The Hosting News) - June 24, 2009 - Yahoo!’s Vice President of Policy and Head of Privacy, Anne Toth, recently testified before the House Energy and Commerce Committee subcommittee at a hearing.

”Behavioral Advertising: Industry Practices and Consumer Expectations” included Ms. Toth outlining Yahoo!’s comprehensive approach to online privacy while offering suggestions for how industry can continue to innovate in a way that aligns with government’s efforts. In setting the stage for her testimony, Ms. Toth, an eleven-year Yahoo! veteran and one of the very first dedicated privacy professionals at an online company, stated ”quite simply, my job is about making sure Yahoo! earns and maintains our users’ trust each and every day.”

Yahoo! recently announced the industry’s leading data retention policy - one that is more privacy-protective than its competitors’ policies, both in terms of scope of data covered and time the web log data is held in identifiable form. Under the new policy Yahoo! will retain the vast majority of its web log data in identifiable form for only 90 days with limited exceptions to help fight fraud, preserve systems security, and meet legal obligations.

When describing Yahoo!’s approach to privacy, Ms. Toth stated, ”Our business depends almost entirely on the trust of our users. At Yahoo!, our approach to privacy couples front-end transparency, meaningful choice, and user education with back-end protections for data that limit how much information and how long personal identifiers are maintained.”

Ms. Toth also spent time outlining Yahoo!’s industry-leading, interest-based advertising offerings, as well as the mechanisms the company offers to help users manage their online experiences.

Ms. Toth added, ”Just as our users value the relevant content we provide, we take a similar approach in the way we deliver advertising. Put simply, customized advertising helps consumers save time and energy since they are more likely to find what they are looking for when we’ve anticipated what they are most interested in.”

In terms of the mechanisms available, Ms. Toth pointed out that every user has access to the Yahoo! Privacy Center, a central location for information about Yahoo!’s privacy practices. A link to the Privacy Center can be found on virtually all of the pages across the Yahoo! family of web sites. The Privacy Center was redesigned in 2008 to improve navigation and provide information on special topics related to Internet privacy. One of the centerpieces of the Privacy Center is the ”opt-out” page, a place where users can easily find and exercise their choice to decline interest-based advertising.

Ms. Toth continued, ”The more our users know about our privacy protection efforts, the more effective those efforts are. Beginning last spring, Yahoo! launched an extensive user education campaign that explained the company’s approach to privacy, customization of services and the tools Yahoo! provides to customers, such as the opt-out, so that they may shape their Internet experience.”

Ms. Toth concluded, ”Experience has taught me that most advances in online consumer protection are driven by industry initiatives and an imperative to protect our users. As Congress considers its role in helping protect consumer privacy online, Yahoo! hopes that legislators will consider an approach that enables providers to keep pace not only with technological advances but with consumer demands and expectations as well.”

Yahoo! Inc. is a leading global Internet brand and one of the most trafficked Internet destinations worldwide. Yahoo! is focused on powering its communities of users, advertisers, publishers, and developers by creating indispensable experiences built on trust. Yahoo! is headquartered in Sunnyvale, California.
