Some Data, Servers Stolen from DataFeedFile

DataFeedFile.com, offerer of a service that helps affiliates easily show merchant data, informed users that their office had been burglarized at approximately 4:30am 1/22/07. The loss includes some servers and user data, but a DataFeedFile spokesman does not expect that anyone would be able to “figure out the password for the server to do anything with it” that would put users at risk.

DataFeedFile.com aggregates data feeds from merchants and creates a searchable database for affiliate publishers. The service downloads data from hundreds of Merchants at least once a day. Their files are set to match their own internal products database. The DataFeedFile clustered search server allows affilate publishers various tools to display price comparison shopping on web sites. DataFeedFile says it has learned from this event and is taking measures to restore full connectivity, minimize downtime, and prevent data loss in the future.
