1&1 Internet Domain Prices to Increase

After seizing a great portion of the U.S. domain marketshare over the years with low registration prices and free domain privacy, 1&1 Internet announced that the company would increase their pricing of domain purchases and renewals by $1.00 USD. This comes as no surprise to domain watchers who observed earlier this year that Verisign, controller of the .com and other top level domains would increase prices by 7% on registrars.

1&1 Internet domain name customers received the following statement from the company:

We are writing today to inform you that it has become necessary for us
to increase the rates for some domains due to price increases by the major
domain registries.

In order to stay competitive and continue to offer you excellent services,
we have made changes to our pricing structure in accordance with the
changes in the industry.

For domain renewals and orders as of November 2, 2007, the following domain
rates will apply:

* .com, .net, .us, .org, .info, .name domains will be increased from $5.99
to $6.99 per year
